Not for Girls

Not that old, as candy bars go. Originally made by Rowntree's of York, if you are wondering about the name origin. Before Nestle gobbled them up. (Haha.) It is chocolate of a sort. Not as sweet (good) as American chocolate but quite thick. At least it was before they started making them smaller and smaller and smaller. I have been thinking about importing these to the U.S. but my gut feeling is to just leave these in britain.

Some think the warning is just a cute advertising slogan; few realize this candy bar has a preservative that makes females sterile. Not illegal in York if you have a warning on the package.

A couple of possible alternate advertising slogans I just thought up:

1. "At least it's not Marlite!"
2. "Yorkie -- when you can't find American chocolate"
3. "I can't believe it's not better"

Disclaimer: It's been more than a month since I've tasted this product**

**Or ever, actually.

  1. Rowntree's joined with MackIntosh to make 'Kit-Kat.'
It was sold as made by MackIntosh in Japan as the Japs could not pronounce 'Rowntree's'

    1. I'm writing this down now. Thank you so much. :)

I'm putting it on the same page in my notebook as the Alabama Ethiopian opera singers.

I was saving that page to record all the victory stories of Scottish football teams, but there is PLENTY of blank space on that page...

    1. Ours is only a little sweet, as chocolate should be. Yours contains no sugar, does it? Bitter like baking chocolate? :)

  3. I prefer my chocolate to be dark and bitter.
I have, to the best of my recollection, never eaten a Yorkie bar.
I'm not sure what the filling is.
As for American chocolate, I suppose I must have had some, but it wasn't particularly memorable.

An American product I did like is those little cheesy crunchy goldfish. Not fish, no, not at all, because I can't eat fish, and not gold either.
