Veterans' Day

Today is veterans's Day in the USA (Remembrance Day in Canada).

Today we honor those who serve, or have served in our Military.

Today we again pray for end to war.

  1. It's the sheer scale of these memorials that I find so moving - all those names, all those lives.

  2. Yes, a. too many. And it goes on.

Hi Janet. Amen indeed. How are you today?

  3. I was in DC last year and went to a couple of those memorials, it was incredible (and not in a good way).

How many more memorials have to be created before there is an end?

  5. Caroline, I have seen them too, except for the brand new WWII big one at the end of the reflecting pool. As Debbie and Bob Dylan says, The answer my friend, is blowin' in the wind...

Debbie, so true. Where have all the flowers gone?

  6. How did that song go again?

Where have all the flowers gone?
Young girls have picked them every one.

Where have all the young girls gone?
    Gone to husbands, every one.

Where have all the husbands gone?
    Gone to soldiers, every one.

Where have all the soldiers gone?
    Gone to graveyards, every one.

Where have all the graveyards gone?
    Gone to flowers, every one.

    Peter, Paul, and Mary, right?...

Who used to come out on stage and introduce themselves:

"My name is Peter. But I'm not an apostle."

"My name is Paul. But I'm not an apostle."

"My name is Mary. But I'm not a virgin."

    Good times.

    Bad times.
