R.I.P. Nancy Wake
Buried on page 9 of my small local newspaper yesterday was a short story of the passing of Nancy Wake. She was living in Australia at the time of her death on Sunday. She was 98. Rest in peace. What times those were. Viva la résistance!

Great woman, I wish I had her guts!
ReplyDeleteMe too. I mean I wish you had her guts. :)
ReplyDeleteI liked the part about her killing the guard with her bare hands. I know I shouldn't, but I do.
My lass, now departed with a rich man, had a 'cousin' in France who aided the resistance. She would flirt with German soldiers and take info from them. Railway tracks would then be blown up and I think she may have used cheesewire on them, she certainly would if required!
ReplyDeleteNever trust a woman!
We don't hear enough of the stories of any of these women who did incredible things during the wars and it's almost too late.
